Sonnet Software, Inc. is pleased to offer North American
customers a powerful Full 3D EM analysis capability for 3D
structures in CST
MICROWAVE STUDIOŽ 2006. Sonnet has joined CST of America's
representative groups to offer additional support and sales to a
growing customer base.
CST MICROWAVE STUDIOŽ is aimed at a broad spectrum of full 3D
high frequency structures. Click on the following links for application examples highlighting its power and capability.

Signal Integrity
Transmission lines can be studied and optimized for
signal integrity. Vias in multilayer boards, connectors,
and other structures can be simulated to obtain cross
talk, mode conversion, TDR impedance, SPICE models, and
eye diagrams.
Examples:
Differential Via Pair
Multipin Connector
SI Design from Allegro

EMC/EMI
Electromagnetic radiation from electronic components and
radiation into housing can be studied with Microwave
Studio. Field monitors are used to determine the EMC
spectrum at the standard 3 and 10 meters distances.
Linear or circularly polarized plane waves can be used
to illuminate a housing to study EMI effects. |

Antenna
and RCS
The FI technique in the time domain solver of Microwave
Studio requires less memory for large problems than FE
methods. You can simulate radiation
problems on your PC such as large finite arrays. RCS studies
can be done with plane wave illumination of a model.
The Floquet mode ports in the frequency domain solver give
highly accurate results for infinite arrays scanned off
bore sight.Examples:
Infinite Array
Normal Phasing
Infinite
Array Off-Normal Phasing
Large Finite
Phased Array
Dipole Receiving Array
Optimization of Antenna Gain
Broadband RCS of a UAV

Waveguide Components
Waveguide components such as a slab polarizer are easily
modeled in Microwave Studio. Gyrotropic materials can be
used to simulate circulators and similar devices.
|
 |
Metamaterials
Metamaterials are assemblies of bodies which
collectively have a behavior of a material with novel
properties.
Left-handed materials,
artificial magnetic
conductors,
frequency selective surfaces, and other metamaterials have been studied using Microwave Studio. |

Cell Phone/Human Body Interaction
Analysis of a cell phone and antenna model in free space, and next to a detailed human head model. This example demonstrates CST's new Human Body Mesh interface, which provides very detailed human body/tissue mesh models. |
