Circuit => Units
Project Editor - Circuit Menu - Units dialog box
Circuit => Units allows you to select the default measurement units for your circuit in the Units dialog box.
Length Drop List: Select a unit of measure from the drop list. Available units are microns, mm, cm, meters, mils, inches. Note that if a geometry file from an earlier version of Sonnet has a custom defined unit, it will automatically converted to the default unit.
Frequency drop list: Select a frequency unit from the drop list.
Resistance drop list: Select a unit of Resistance from the drop list. This drop list is only enabled for Netlist projects.
Inductance drop list: Select a unit of Inductance from the drop list. This drop list is only enabled for Netlist projects.
Capacitance drop list: Select a unit of Capacitance from the drop list. This drop list is only enabled for Netlist project.
Applying New Units radio buttons: When changing units, you can choose to keep your circuit the same physical size or allow it to change size.
Remember Settings: Clicking on this checkbox saves any selections you make for the next time this dialog box is accessed. Note that the setting of the two radio buttons below, Maintain Physical and Maintain Value, are NOT saved.
Maintain Physical: If you choose to keep it the same physical size, all distances are converted to the new unit. For instance, if a square is 10 mm on a side and you change the unit to centimeters, it now measures 1 cm by 1 cm.
Maintain Value: If you choose to allow the circuit to change size, distances retain the same numerical value, but the unit changes. For example, if a distance is 10 mm and you change the unit to meters, distance is now 10 meters. Click the appropriate checkbox before applying the units.
Tip: The Maintain Value option is particularly useful is you have already entered a significant portion of your circuit with the wrong length unit selected.
