Optimization Parameters dialog box

Project Editor - Analysis Setup - Optimization

The Optimization Parameters dialog box is opened when you click on the Edit button in the Analysis Setup dialog box when an Optimization is selected or when you select Analysis => Optimization Results at the end of an optimization. The Optimization Parameters dialog box allows you to specify which parameters vary and the respective data ranges over which the parameters change for an optimization. At least one parameter must be selected. All the parameters defined in the project appear in the parameter list. For more details about defining parameters, see Tools => Add Parameter.

Parameters: To include a parameter in an optimization, click on the checkbox in the Optimize column. This enables the corresponding text entry boxes. You enter the minimum value for the parameter in the Min text entry box and the maximum value in the Max text entry box. The nominal value is the present value of the parameter as it is drawn in the project editor. All three values are floating point numbers. The Min value must be less than or equal to the nominal value. The Max value must be greater than or equal to the nominal value.

If a parameter is not selected to be used in an optimization run, the nominal value is used for all the analyses.

Update: When an optimization run is complete, the parameter values which were used to achieve the optimization goals appear in the Opt Result column. Clicking on the update button writes the Opt Result values to the nominal values for each parameter. The drawing in the project editor is also updated to reflect these new nominal values.

If this is the first time parameters have been set up for an optimization run, then the Update button is disabled.

TIP:            To view the results of a previous optimization, you can open this dialog box by selecting Analysis => Optimization Results from the project editor's main menu.
