How do I send a project to a co-worker or Sonnet support?
The Sonnet project file ends with a .son extension. However, this file only contains the geometry information and other analysis settings. It does not contain the results from a simulation or optimization. Including this extra information allows Sonnet Support to respond more quickly and more effectively. To do so, it is necessary to ''pack'' the project, so that all the geometry or netlist information, the analysis controls and the response data are included. Sonnet provides a command which packs up your Sonnet project and emails it to Sonnet support. For more information about sending your project to Sonnet support, see File => Send to Sonnet.
If you wish to send your project to a coworker, Sonnet provides a pack command which creates a Sonnet archive file with the extension ''.zon'' which may be sent to a coworker. For more information about the Sonnet project's structure, see How is the project information stored on my computer?
To pack a project for transfer to another computer, via storage disc or e-mail, do the following:
1. Select Project => Manage => Pack from the main menu of the Sonnet task bar.
2. In the Pack Project dialog box which appears on your display, enter the file(s) you wish to pack in the Project(s) text entry box in the From section of the dialog box. You may click on the Browse button to open a browse window which allows you to select the desired project.
3. If the desired directory is not already displayed in the To section of the Pack Project dialog box, click on the Browse button and use the browse window to selected the desired destination for the packed project.
4. Once the source and destination are specified, click on the Pack button to pack the project. The name of the packed project uses the basename of the source project with a .zon extension. For example, if you use the pack command on steps.son, the resulting packed file is steps.zon.
If the project is open in the project editor, do the following:
5. Select File => Export => Packed Project from the project editor main menu, then follow steps 2 - 4 above.
The recipient of the packed project must use the File => Import => Packed Project on the .zon file to extract the project for use in the Sonnet applications. You may also unpack a project using the Project=> Manage => Unpack command on the Sonnet task bar.
