How do I specify an optimization goal?
You specify an optimization goal in the Optimization Goal Entry dialog box which is opened when you click on the Add button at the upper right hand corner of the Optimization Goals list in the Analysis Setup dialog box. See How do I select an optimization? for more details.
To specify an optimization goal, do the following:
In the Optimization Goal Entry dialog box, enter the frequency range for this optimization goal by editing the Start, Stop and Step text entry boxes. This optimization goal will only be valid for this frequency range.
If your project is a netlist, select the network whose response you wish to use from the Network drop list. All networks defined in the project appear in this list. If this is a geometry project, then this drop list is disabled.
Note The next steps start at the left side of the dialog box and go across the ''goal equation'' to the right. The left side of the equation specifies a response in your project. The right side of the equation is the target response to which you wish to compare your project response.
Select the format of your response from the drop list. Your choices are : DB - magnitude in dB, MAG - magnitude, DEG - phase angle in degrees, RAD - phase angle in radians, REAL - real part of the parameter, and IMAG - imaginary part of the parameter.
Select the response whose value you wish to make the optimization goal from the drop list. The list includes all the possible S, Y and Z-parameters available in the project.
Select the operator from the drop list. You may select your response to be greater than, lesser than or equal to the target.
Select the type of target response from the drop list above the right side of the equation. You may select a value, a network, or a response file. The inputs are changed depending upon your choice. See the appropriate step below.
If you select Value, then enter the target value in the Enter Value: text entry box.
If you select Network and your project is a netlist, then select the desired network from the Network drop list. Then select the format and target response from the drop list just below the network drop list.
If you select File, then click on the Browse button to select the response file which contains the desired response target. Then select the format and target response in the file from the drop list just below the file text entry box.
When you have completed entering the goal, click on the OK button to close the Optimization Goal Entry dialog box. The goal is added to the Optimization Goals list in the Analysis Setup dialog box. To add another optimization goal to your project, click again on the Add button to the right of the list.
