Tools => Add Parameter

Project Editor Menu - Tools Menu

Parameters are user defined circuit properties that allow the analysis engine to modify the circuit in order to perform parameter sweeps and optimization. Parameters also provide a quick way for the user to change dimensions in the project editor. For example, the length of a transmission line can be assigned the parameter ''L''.

In order to set up parameters, you select dimensions and define them as parameters, which allows you to vary those dimensions within an analysis. The initial value of the parameter is the length that appears in your circuit. This is the nominal value of the parameter. If you change the nominal value then the circuit is redrawn with that length.

There are two types of parameters: anchored and symmetric.

Anchored parameters.

Parameter Right-click Menu

Once a parameter has been added to your circuit, right-clicking on the parameter produces a pop-up menu. This menu contains four items: Edit Point Set, Delete, Select Dependents and Properties.

Edit Point Set: Selecting this command from the pop-up menu allows you to select or unselect points in the adjustable point set for a parameter using the normal editing commands of the project editor. Points in the adjustable point set are highlighted. If you eliminate the point from the point set, it is no longer highlighted. When you are finished editing the points, press the Enter key.

For details on selecting or unselecting points, see Editing Your Geometry.

Delete: Selecting this command from the pop-up menu deletes the parameter from your circuit.

Select Dependents: Selecting this command from the pop-up menu highlights any parameters which are dependent on the selected parameter. For a discussion of dependence, see ''Dependent Parameters'' in the Sonnet User's Guide. Equivalent to Edit => Select Dependents.

Properties: Selecting this command from the pop-up menu opens the Parameters Properties dialog box for this parameters.
